Inclusion Consulting & Design

Practical advice for accessible spaces, communication and everyday practice.

The Inclusive Movement works with organisations to understand barriers and plan meaningful change.

We review existing environments and systems, advise on new designs, create communication resources, and support teams to put inclusive and neuroaffirming practices into action.

Our work is guided by lived experience, human rights and the people who use your spaces and services. We agree a scope that fits your setting, priorities and available resources.

How we can help

Access and inclusion reviews

Understand where people encounter barriers across the full experience of using your space or service.

We can review arrival, movement through a space, sensory conditions, signage, communication, forms, service processes and everyday interactions.

Your agreed outputs can include an environment assessment, a findings report and an action plan that explains the barriers, priorities, responsibilities and ways to check progress.

For a formal building compliance audit or certification, we agree the relevant qualified specialist and technical scope separately.

Inclusive space design advice

Bring inclusion into a new design, refurbishment or existing room. We can advise on layout, lighting, sound, wayfinding, communication, rest spaces and opportunities for choice.

Your agreed outputs can include a functional brief, concept feedback, annotated design recommendations and a handover for your design or project team.

We work alongside the relevant design and technical professionals.

Playgrounds and recreation spaces

Plan for meaningful play and participation across different ages, interests and access needs.

We consider the journey into the playground, access to activities, shared play, sensory options, seating, shade, nearby facilities and communication.

Your agreed outputs can include a review of an existing playground or proposed design, consultation findings, communication board recommendations and a prioritised inclusion action plan.

Playground safety inspection and certification require the relevant qualified specialist.

Communication boards and accessible information

Create more ways for people to understand information and express what matters to them.

We can develop public communication boards, visual information, Easy English resources, clearer forms and accessible signage.

A communication board project can include a vocabulary brief, draft layout, trials with users, agreed production files and guidance for communication partners.

Public boards add to people’s communication options and support the use of their existing communication systems.

Neuroaffirming practice and policy reviews

Examine how your policies and daily routines affect people’s choices, communication and participation.

We can review selected policies, recruitment and induction processes, customer interactions, learning routines, feedback pathways and team practices.

Your agreed outputs can include suggested wording, practical adjustments, an implementation plan and questions your team can use to review progress.

We focus on dignity, autonomy and access in the context of your organisation.

Tailored training and implementation support

Help your team use inclusive practices in their actual roles.

We design workshops and practical learning around your setting, whether that involves managing a team, serving customers, teaching, coaching or supporting community participation.

Your agreed outputs can include learning resources, role-specific examples, practice tools and follow-up support.

Training can be combined with a review or design project so that learning connects to changes in your systems and environment.

Inclusive event planning

Plan access across the event experience, from finding information and booking to arriving, joining activities and leaving.

We can advise on communication, venue layout, sensory options, participation, staff and volunteer preparation, and visitor information.

Your agreed outputs can include an event inclusion plan, communication resources, access information and an action list for organisers.

Equipment hire, event management and on-day staffing are agreed separately.

Consulting for your sector

Inclusion looks different in each setting. We tailor the review, consultation and recommendations to the people who work in, visit or use your organisation.
